Biography

Rachel is a student in the Science, Technology and Environmental Policy (STEP) Ph.D. program. Her research uses quantitative methods to examine social issues at the intersection of climate science and public finance. Rachel’s recent work focuses on the long-run impact of hurricanes on labor and migration, as well as the welfare implications of place-based disaster response policies. Before starting at Princeton, Rachel was a full-time research assistant at the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment for Jesse Rothstein, Professor of Economics and Public Policy at UC Berkeley. She completed her MPP at the Goldman School of Public Policy, UC Berkeley, in 2017. She began her research career as a policy analyst for the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, in Washington, D.C., where she evaluated national energy efficiency legislation. Rachel holds a B.A. in environmental studies from Lewis & Clark College. During her college years, she worked as a climate activist with the Sierra Student Coalition and Avaaz.org.
