Biography

Seblewengel was born and raised in Ethiopia. Her childhood experiences as a girl and the challenges she faced inspired her to work on gender equality issues. Seble started her career as an elementary school teacher. She then worked with a variety of organizations and programs, challenging existing gender norms and increasing various stakeholders' understanding of gender inequalities and how they affect women, men, boys, and girls differently. She was especially proud of the work she had done directly with the community to assist them in facilitating their own change process in order to bring about social transformation by addressing restrictive gender norms. Seble has a growth mindset, as evidenced by her multidisciplinary educational background and participation in various leadership programs. She earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and social anthropology, a bachelor's degree in education, and a master’s in social work. After graduating from Princeton, Seble hopes to improve the lives of women and girls by promoting justice and equality in Africa and beyond for better communities and a more peaceful and inclusive world.
