Construction for Installation about Woodrow Wilson Soon to be Underway
Construction for a new installation about Woodrow Wilson will begin June 2019 on Scudder Plaza beside Robertson Hall, home of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.Designed by acclaimed artist Walter Hood, the piece measures 39 feet in height and will be erected adjacent to the Fountain of Freedom on the Washington Road side of the plaza. The project is expected to be completed by September 2019.Hood will present a free, public lecture about the value of public art in helping us reflect on our past at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, at the Friend Center, Room 101. Paul Lipton Named Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education at the Woodrow Wilson School
Paul Lipton, who has served in a number of senior roles at Boston University, joins Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs as associate dean of undergraduate education, effective July 1.Lipton has served as associate director of Boston University’s Kilachand Honors College since 2017 and as director of the Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience since 2013. Princeton Researchers Awarded Funding for Innovative Education Research Projects
A group of researchers at Princeton University will receive funding to work on innovative, cross-disciplinary education research projects over the next two academic years.More than $300,000 was awarded to Anne Catena, Michael Celia, Adam Kapor, Christopher Neilson, Daniel Rubenstein, and Maria Micaela Sviatschi by the Overdeck Education Innovation Fund.The Overdeck Innovation Fund was created by Overdeck Family Foundation, which donated over $1 million to the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs to support cross-disciplinary research projects across campus involving quantitative data analysis.Funds will be distributed for the…

Child Poverty Rate Could Be Cut in Half in Next Decade Following Proposals in New Expert Report
In light of the significant costs generated by child poverty for the United States, a new report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine provides evidence-based policy and program packages that could cut the child poverty rate by as much as 50 percent while at the same time increasing employment and earnings among adults living in low-income families.Two Princeton University faculty — Janet Currie and Eldar Shafir — were on the committee that led the study. Graduate Students Clark and Lopez Gonzalez Named Ullman Fellows
Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs has awarded two graduate students, Tom Clark MPA ’20 and Paulina Lopez Gonzalez MPA ’19, Richard H. Ullman Fellowships. Will Dobbie, assistant professor of economics and public affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School, is winner of a 2019 Sloan Research Fellow.
