Wailoo Named Hastings Center Fellow
Professor Keith Wailoo is among the 18 fellows elected to the Hastings Center, a nonpartisan bioethics research institution. Major Renovation to Begin at Robertson Hall
Robertson Hall, home of Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, will undergo a major redesign and renovation expected to commence this month and last through summer 2020. The architect is KPMB, a Toronto-based firm that designed the University’s Julis Romo Rabinowitz and Louis A. Simpson International Buildings at 20 Washington Road.The project, “Reimagining Robertson,” will include the first, second, third, and fourth floors, portions of the lower level, and minor updates to Arthur Lewis Auditorium — nearly 48,000 square feet in total. Professor Helen Milner of Princeton University was elected president of the International Studies Association (ISA), one of the oldest organizations dedicated to international, transnational and global affairs. Her term will begin in 2020 and conclude in 2021. Milner’s current research interests include the politics of technological change, populism, foreign aid and development, among other topics related to globalization and trade. Students Learn Fast-Paced Decision-Making Through Annual Crisis Simulation
Princeton University's Center for International Security Studies (CISS) hosted more than 50 undergraduate and graduate students from Princeton University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University for its annual crisis simulation on Nov. 10.For this year’s simulation, “Clash in the Caucuses,” participants were divided into teams representing the civilian and military leadership of Armenia Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia and Turkey. Can We Build a Better Society? International Panel Publishes Report on Social Progress
Considerable social progress has been made around the world, yet new global challenges threatening human advancement and survival need urgent responses, according to a new report published by an international panel comprised of social scientists. Bringing together nearly 300 researchers from around the world, the International Panel for Social Progress (IPSP) worked for three years to examine the prospects for social progress in light of today’s social sciences. Professor Stephen Kotkin has won the 17th annual Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) Arthur Ross Book Award for “Stalin: Waiting for Hitler, 1929–1941,” the second volume of a definitive biography of Joseph Stalin.The second book in the series covers major events in the Soviet Union from collectivization and the Great Terror to the conflict with Germany under Adolf Hitler. Moll Receives 2017 Bernácer Prize
Benjamin Moll, associate professor of economics and international affairs at Princeton University, was awarded the 2017 Bernácer Prize for his outstanding contributions in macroeconomics and finance.The prize, awarded annually to an economist under age 40, was established in 2001 by the Observatorio del Banco Central Europeo (OBCE) to recognize the work of young economists from the European Union.
