Dear SPIA community,

The devastating earthquake that struck Morocco late last week – the strongest there in more than a century – has killed at least 2,500 people, a number that will almost certainly rise. It injured or displaced countless others. All of us at SPIA extend our deepest sympathies to the victims and hope fervently for successful rescue and recovery efforts.

Many members of our community have ties in Morocco, and we are here to support you however we can. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Counseling and Psychological Services if you need assistance. I also encourage you to schedule an appointment to talk with Tam Rovitto, Associate Director of Graduate Student Life.

Warmly,

Amaney Jamal, Dean
