About

The 2023-2024 academic year marks the 75th anniversary of SPIA’s Master in Public Affairs (MPA) program. The School’s first graduate program, the MPA was launched with public-service objectives that have remained constant over its history:

“The program is intended to give a broad grasp of major problems of the present era and an appreciation of the importance of administrative processes, human relations, and law in policy formation and execution. Application of the techniques of the various social sciences to concrete problems is emphasized.”

For three quarters of a century, MPA alumni have gone on to meaningful careers in federal, state, and local governments — here in the United States and around the world, NGOs and nonprofits, the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and countless organizations large and small that change the world for the better on a daily basis.

Over the next two years, SPIA will incorporate the celebration of this milestone anniversary into existing School events and will share remembrances from alumni, faculty, graduate students and staff.

You can be a part of the celebration! We are seeking your memories – thoughts, remembrances, photographs – to help us paint a full picture of the MPA program since its 1948 launch. Please share your memories here, or email us at spiampa75@princeton.edu.
