The aides are visiting the U.S. under the auspices of the Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program. Their program is arranged by Meridian International Center. They will be accompanied by interpreters Ms. Jennifer An and Mr. Hee Sook Chae.

The objective of the visit is to illuminate U.S. foreign policy priorities in the Asia‑Pacific; examine policy debates within think tanks, NGOs, and advocacy circles; enhance understanding of the role of the United States in Korea and East Asia; improve understanding of the importance of U.S.‑ROK alliance to the security of Northeast Asia; observe how civic organizations are involved in foreign, economic, and security policy formulation; explore developments in defense and high-technology industries; outline U.S. security priorities, goals, and traditions, particularly as they relate to the Korea Peninsula and the broader Asian‑Pacific Region; and explore aspects of U.S. international trade policies—bilateral, regional and multilateral.
