Dr. Tong Mu is an Associate Research Scholar at the Center for Policy Research on Energy and the Environment at Princeton University. His research focuses on the ecology and conservation of migratory species, pursuing ecological questions with direct conservation and policy implications. Combining field observation, satellite tracking, and mathematical modeling, he studies how the patterns in habitat use, habitat heterogeneity, and migration strategies jointly affect the vulnerability of migratory birds to habitat loss and other anthropogenic threats from both local to global scales, which have facilitated policy changes and on-the-ground conservation practices at local, national, and international levels. Prior to Princeton, Tong received his B.S. from Peking University, where he became an avid birdwatcher and deeply interested in biodiversity conservation.
