India’s Economic Trajectory: Digitization, Infrastructure and Energy Transitions

Suman Bery is currently Vice Chairperson of India’s NITI Aayog – the National Institute for Transforming India, in the rank and status of a Cabinet Minister. NITI Aayog is the apex public policy think tank of the Government of India (GOI), tasked with catalyzing economic development through knowledge, innovation and cooperative federalism. Mr Bery took over as NITI Aayog Vice Chairperson on May 1, 2022, bringing more than 30 years of leadership experience as a policy economist and research administrator at various organizations, including as global Chief Economist at Royal Dutch Shell, Director-General of the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), Delhi, India; researcher and advisory member of several high level GOI Committees, and lead of various country initiatives at The World Bank, Washington DC. Mr. Bery holds a master’s degree in public affairs from Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs, and an undergraduate degree in philosophy, politics and economics from Magdalen College, University of Oxford.
