Jacob N. Shapiro is an assistant professor of politics and international affairs at Princeton University and co-directs the Empirical Studies of Conflict Project. His active research projects study political violence, economic and political development in conflict zones, security policy, and urban conflict. He is author of The Terrorist’s Dilemma: Managing Violent Covert Organizations. His research has been published or is forthcoming in broad range of academic and policy journals including American Journal of Political Science, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, International Organization, International Security, Journal of Political Economy, and World Politics as well as a number of edited volumes. Shapiro is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, an Associate Editor of World Politics, a Faculty Fellow of the Association for Analytic Learning about Islam and Muslim Societies (AALIMS), a Research Fellow at the Center for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP), and served in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve.
Bernard Haykel is professor of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University. He is also director of The Institute for the Transregional Study of the Contemporary Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia and Director of the Princeton Project on Oil and Energy in the Middle East. Haykel’s primary research interests center on Islamic political movements and legal thought as well as Saudi Arabia’s politics and history. He has published extensively on the Salafi movement in both its pre-modern and modern manifestations. He has recently completed a second book on the religious politics of Saudi Arabia since the early 1950s. Dr.
Dr. Munqith Dagher conducted Iraq’s first-ever public opinion poll and since that time has been responsible for undertaking 1,000,000+ interviews for a range of agencies and topics. Munqith establishedthe public opinion and marketing research company in Iraq, IIACSS in 2003 while he was a professor of public administration/strategic management at Baghdad University. He has managed more than 170 public opinion and various market research projects. He has lectured widely and published several articles and books. In 2007 he expanded his research base by completing a program on the Principles Of Marketing Research, at the University of Georgia, in the US, and in 2005 he completed a certificate program for SPSS preliminary and advance models.
