Please join us in 127 Corwin for a PRIM&R webinar on New Ethical Challenges of Experimental Political Science. Over the past two decades, political scientists have adopted experimental methods to interact directly with subjects in the United States and globally. This new wave of field experimentation has produced some very public controversies. Researchers have created illegal attack advertisements during political campaigns, exposed subjects to risks of violence through experiments and made apparent the need to consider the ethical implications of this experimental work. This webinar focuses on establishing guidelines for political scientists in conducting ethically sound research while continuing to generate valuable scientific knowledge. Access to the webinar is co-sponsored by the Princeton University Politics Department and the Institutional Review Board. It will feature political scientist and former CSDP Fellow Scott Desposato, associate professor of Political Science at UC San Diego and the editor of Ethics and Experiments; Problems and Solutions for Social Scientists and Policy Professionals (2016). His co-presenter will be Trisha Phillips, an associate professor and ethicist in the Department of Political Science at West Virginai University. For more information, please visit the PRIM&R website or contact Ed Freeland by phone (x1854) or email. Ed Freeland, Chair, Institutional Review Board.
