Refugee Resettlement: Special Immigration Visas, and National Security will be addressed at a public talk to be held Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at Robertson Hall, Dodds Auditorium, on the Princeton University campus. The event is free and open to the public.

 “Refugee Resettlement: Special Immigration Visas, and National Security,” will be a panel discussion. It is co-sponsored by the Wilson School; the Student Veterans Organization, a Princeton organization serving military members and veterans; and Veterans for American Ideals.

Participants will include:

• Michael Kelvington: Woodrow Wilson School MPA ’17 candidate and U.S. Army Major. Major Kelvington has been fighting for the past four years to bring his former linguist from Afghanistan to the U.S. through the special immigration visa program set up for foreign employees of the U.S. government serving in a support role in Afghanistan.
• Kate Horner: Consultant, Veterans for American Ideals. The sister of a Marine veteran, Kate has worked with the veteran community since 2012 and in the human rights space since 2006.
• Julie Whittaker MPA '17, Woodrow Wilson School - worked for two years in Za'atari Refugee Camp; cofounder, The Amal Foundation
• Syrian refugees now living in the United States

Jacob N. Shapiro, professor of politics and international affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School and co-director of the Empirical Studies of Conflict Project, will moderate the panel.
