CJ Griffin is the Director of the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden, which is dedicated to a broad range of public interest impact litigation and appellate advocacy that advances social, racial, and economic justice; protects civil liberties and constitutional rights; and promotes an open and transparent government. CJ has argued before the New Jersey Supreme Court nearly 20 times and has been counsel of record in nearly 60 published appellate cases on a wide range of public interest issues. Over the past decade, CJ has litigated several cases that have significantly increased government transparency in this state. Most recently, CJ argued and won the landmark case Richard Rivera v. Union County Prosecutor’s Office, which provided a legal path for the public to access police internal affairs reports for the first time.

Dana DiFilippo is senior reporter at the New Jersey Monitor, a watchdog news outlet that launched in New Jersey in July 2021 to cover state issues and policymakers in New Jersey. It’s part of the national States Newsroom network. Before joining the Monitor, Dana worked at newspapers in Philadelphia and its suburbs, Cincinnati, and suburban Pittsburgh. She also has worked in radio at WHYY, Philadelphia’s NPR station, and freelanced for various publications in the U.S.
