Rothschild has written on asymmetric information, decision-making under uncertainty, demography, investment, taxation, finance, and jury-decision processes. Current research focuses on higher education. He coauthored Uncertainty in Economics: Readings and Exercises, and coedited Studies of Supply and Demand in Higher Education. Rothschild is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Econometric Society. Rothschild served as dean of the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs from 1995 to February 2002. Ph.D. Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
