
Soumitra Bhuyan
Biography
Dr. Soumitra Bhuyan is a Visiting Associate Professor at the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and Executive Director of the Health Administration Programs at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers–New Brunswick. A nationally recognized leader in healthcare management education, he received the National Leadership Excellence Award (2025) from the Baldrige Foundation and the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), which recognizes exceptional achievement in advancing the quality of healthcare management education. He was previously honored with the “Rising Star” Award from the American Public Health Association (2013) and the Charles E. Gibbs Leadership Prize (2017), awarded annually for excellence in research on women’s health care or policy.
His research focuses on chronic disease management, health information systems, and population health informatics. His commentaries have appeared in The Hill, ABC News, Becker’s Hospital Review, and The Star-Ledger. Dr. Bhuyan also serves as an Associate Editor of BMJ Global Health and as a member of the editorial boards of The Journal of Health Administration Education and Hospital Topics.
