Biography

Tam (she/her) is the Director of Graduate Student Life at SPIA. In this role, she combines her decades of student affairs, mental health, and administrative experience to create programs and policies that foster SPIA students’ wellness and belonging. Some of her responsibilities include student support, crisis management, SPIA student government, JPIA, the summer program for incoming students, and SPIA hooding. Tam appreciates the opportunity to build community and connect with students from admitted status through hooding. She also collaborates with other departments within Princeton University and beyond to continuously improve the student experience at SPIA.

She earned her BA from Rutgers University, MS from Columbia University, then returned to Rutgers University for her doctorate degree. Tam is a published practitioner-scholar and centers her research on first-generation college students and mental health. Outside of academia, Tam provides workshops and trainings on DEI&B and is dually licensed in NJ & NY to provide psychotherapy. When not working, she enjoys time with family, trying new food, traveling, or watching her sons play soccer.
