Frederick Bohen MPA '64, a distinguished alumnus, passed away March 15, 2015. 

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard College, Bohen served in the U.S. Navy, later entering the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs to concentrate in economics and public policy. Upon graduating with the first class at Robertson Hall, he served for two years as the Wilson School’s first assistant dean.

Amidst membership on the School’s advisory council and serving as class agent for the MPA ’64 alumni, he led a life in public and charitable service and education. Bohen served in the Johnson administration as staff director of the President’s Task Force of Government Organization and the Carter administrations as executive secretary of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare and chief of staff to Secretary Joseph Califano, Jr. Other past appointments include senior vice president of Brown University and vice president of finance and operations at the University of Minnesota. He also worked for the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare as assistant secretary for management and budget. 

Bohen retired in 2005 from The Rockefeller University as executive vice president and chief operating officer.
