Two professors at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs have been named to leadership positions for two of the School’s centers and programs.

Kathryn Edin, professor of sociology and public affairs, is co-director of The Bendheim-Thoman Center for Research on Child Wellbeing (CRCW). Jennifer Jennings ’00, professor of sociology and public affairs, is director of the Education Research Section (ERS).

Both Edin and Jennings joined the Woodrow Wilson School faculty during the 2017-18 academic year. Before joining the School, Edin was a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor in Sociology and Public Health and faculty director of the 21st Century Cities Signature Initiative at Johns Hopkins University. She received both a Ph.D. and master of arts in sociology from Northwestern University. Her research interests lie in the domains of welfare and low-wage work, family life, and neighborhood contexts.

Jennings previously was an associate professor of sociology at New York University and postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University. She received her Ph.D. in sociology from Columbia University, M.Phil. from the University of Cambridge and A.B. from Princeton. Her research examines the racial, socioeconomic and gender disparities in health and education outcomes.

Sara McLanahan, the William S. Tod Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs, co-directs CRCW. The Center’s mission is to stimulate basic research, educate faculty and students about issues related to children's policies, and influence policymakers and practitioners at the federal, state, and local levels.

The Education Research Section supports research, publication, and teaching on matters relating to education policy and practice.
