CISS invites you to join us on Thursday February 18th at 4:30pm for a special screening of the film Greyhound and a pre-film discussion with Princeton alum Dr. Doyle Hodges.
Starring Tom Hanks, Greyhound is a cerebral take on the challenges of naval warfare in the Second World War and chronicles the crossing of an Allied shipping convoy through the North Atlantic as it encounters Nazi submarine patrols without any hope for reinforcement.
Our discussion with Dr. Hodges will focus on the nature of naval combat, the unique challenges posed by wartime logistics and maritime shipping, and the context in which this film's plot takes place in the Battle of the Atlantic.
Please RSVP by Wednesday February 17th.
Doyle Hodges is the executive editor of Texas National Security Review and a senior editor at War on the Rocks. A retired Naval officer, he commanded a salvage ship and a destroyer, and taught leadership and ethics to midshipmen. He earned a doctorate from Princeton University, and has taught at the Naval Academy, the Naval War College, George Mason University, and Princeton.
