Professors Robert O. Keohane and Nannerl O. Keohane were awarded honorary doctor of letters degrees by the University of St. Andrews in Scotland on June 23, 2015.

The Keohanes were individually honored for their contributions. Nannerl, a scholar of political philosophy, was recognized for her significant leadership in higher education as president of Wellesley College (1981–1993) and Duke University (1993–2004) as well as her scholarly work, including “Philosophy and the State in France” (1980). Robert received the accolade for his lifetime of scholarship in the study of world politics, including “Power and Interdependence” (1977) with Joseph S. Nye; “After Hegemony: Cooperation and Discord in the World Political Economy” (1984); and “Designing Social Inquiry” (1994) with Gary King and Sydney Verba.
